About Carshalton

Carshalton is a designated conservation area centred on the famous Carshalton Ponds. Most properties are Victorian and Edwardian, with many cottages, terraces and larger family homes dating from the 1860s-1900s.

We regularly do heritage roofing work here:

• Natural Welsh slate repairs and re-roofs
• Handmade clay tile matching
• Code 4-6 leadwork to BS standards
• Lime mortar repointing
• Heritage chimney stack restoration

Conservation-area rules apply to many of these properties — we'll guide you through the requirements before any work begins.

What we offer in Carshalton

When water is actively coming in, the clock is ticking. Every hour of delay risks more damage to ceilings, plaster, electrical systems, insulation and belongings. You need a roofer who picks up the phone day or night.

What counts as an emergency?

• Active water ingress during or after rain
• Visible storm damage — tiles/slates blown off, tree fall, structural damage
• Sudden ceiling sag or collapse from water saturation
• Major flashing failure with water entering the property
• Fire damage affecting the roof

What we do in the first 2 hours

1. Confirm safe access to the affected area
2. Tarping or temporary sheeting to stop further water ingress
3. Emergency sealing of flashings, valleys, or obvious breaches
4. Debris clearance if safe
5. Photographic record for your insurer
6. Initial assessment of damage and required permanent repairs

What we do in the following days

• Detailed written damage report with photographs
• Direct liaison with your insurer or loss adjuster
• Schedule permanent repair at insurer-approved specification
• Final repair with warranty

Insurance handling

Most home insurance policies cover storm damage and sudden roofing failures. We work with your insurer directly:

• Provide the damage report and photographic evidence
• Liaise with your loss adjuster
• Provide fixed-price quotes in their required format
• Direct insurer billing — most policies allow this, meaning you pay only the policy excess

What you should NOT do

• Don't climb on the roof yourself — fall risk is real and storm-damaged roofs are unstable
• Don't ignore the problem hoping it stops — it never does
• Don't delay calling your insurer — most policies require prompt notification
• Don't throw away damaged materials before your loss adjuster sees them
